报告题目：Chemokine Receptors and Colonic Homeostasis

Inflammation is associated with many diseases including microbial infection, immune responses, injury and cancer. The hallmark of inflammation is the accumulation of leukocytes at disease sites, where leukocytes constitute a line of defense but over responses may cause tissue damage. Leukocytes are also major infiltrates of malignant tumors to help shape microenvironment, which either inhibits or promotes the growth of tumors. Leukocyte infiltration is mediated by G-protein coupled receptors (GPCRs) expressed on the surface of leukocytes in response to pathogen- and host-derived chemotactic ligands. Formylpeptide receptors (FPRs) belong to the chemoattractant GPCR superfamily and are expressed mainly by myeloid cells. By interacting with bacterial and host chemotactic ligands, FPRs direct myeloid cells to localize at the sites of inflammatory and immune responses. In addition to myeloid cells, epithelial cells and cancer cells also express one or more FPRs. Based on their essential role in many pathophysiolical processes, FPRs, along with other chemoattractant GPCRs, are considered as targets for development of therapeutic agents for diseases.
Dr. Ji-Ming Wang是美国国立肿瘤研究所分子免疫调节实验室的终身资深研究员 ( Senior Principal Investigator, Tenure)，分子免疫国际知名专家。他于1983年毕业于上海第二医科大学，1987年从意大利米兰的Lombardy 药学院获得博士学位。Dr. Wang一直从事趋化因子及其受体在感染、炎症和癌症方面的研究，已在Nature、Science、 JNCI、JEM、JCI、PNAS、J. Immunol和Blood等国际著名科学期刊上发表了200多篇学术论文和综述。他是International Immnopharmacology，Journal of Immunology和Cellular and Molecular Immunology等多个科学期刊的编委。王吉民博士领导的课题组对趋化因子及其受体尤其是FPRs在感染免疫与肿瘤、老年性痴呆及肠道微生态中的作用及其机制等方面，进行了深入系统的研究。
